Working at SHARE! offers many opportunities to build community, inspire personal growth and change, and connect people with self-help support groups, housing, jobs and volunteer opportunities.

Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit work, social services, or creative fields? SHARE! The Self-Help and Recovery Exchange offers a professional, unpaid internship program ideal for students, recent graduates, and anyone seeking career-building experience in a purpose-driven environment.

Open Intern 
Positions

Housing Placement Intern

Location: On-Site or Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone calls from potential residents and screen applicants.

  • Conduct initial intake assessments for SHARE!’s Collaborative Housing Program.

  • Assess applicants’ eligibility and assist with housing placement.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Skills in intake procedures, housing assessments, and client interaction.

  • Knowledge of housing eligibility and support services.

  • Real-world experience in social services and nonprofit operations.
     

Ideal For: Students in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or Public Administration.

Facility Maintenance Intern

Location: On-Site (SHARE! Facilities)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with building repairs, maintenance, and landscaping.

  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies.

  • Build relationships with contractors and service providers.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Skills in facility maintenance, repairs, and inventory management.

  • Professional connections with contractors and tradespeople.

  • Experience in facilities management for nonprofits.

Event Coordination Intern (Culver City & Downtown LA)

Location: On-Site

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage SHARE! events, including workshops and fundraisers.

  • Coordinate logistics, volunteers, and vendor relations.

  • Promote events to engage the community.

Peer Support Specialist Intern

Location: SHARE! Culver City, Downtown LA, or Recovery Retreat

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in facilitating support groups and providing peer support.

  • Help clients connect with recovery resources.

  • Collaborate with trained specialists to offer guidance.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Peer support and crisis intervention skills.

  • Experience in group facilitation and resource coordination.

Volunteer-to-Job Program Intern

  • Mentor participants in SHARE!’s Volunteer-to-Job Program.

  • Support participants in their journey toward meaningful employment.

Administration Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support across SHARE! programs.

  • Perform data entry, scheduling, and document organization.

  • Assist with operational tasks to ensure program efficiency.
